FAQ
Before we answer all the practical questions... I want you to know something.

If you're worried your children won't cooperate...
If your husband isn't excited about photos...
If you feel awkward in front of the camera...
Or if you're wondering whether this season of life is "picture perfect" enough...
You're exactly where you're supposed to be.
The best photographs aren't created when everything goes perfectly.
They're created because your family showed up exactly as they are.
The laughter.
The cuddles.
The silly faces.
The snack breaks.
The wind-blown hair.
The little moments in between.
That's the good stuff.
Now... let's answer a few questions. 🤍
Before your session
What should we wear?
Don't stress—I have you covered!
Every session includes wardrobe guidance, and I'm always happy to help coordinate outfits before your session. You can even send me screenshots while you're shopping or lay everything out on your bed and snap a quick picture. We'll make sure everything comes together beautifully.
What time are sessions?
Most outdoor sessions are scheduled during the hour before sunset—often called Golden hour.
This is when the light is soft, warm, and incredibly flattering, creating the dreamy, timeless look you see throughout my portfolio.
Newborn and in-home lifestyle sessions are a little different. Those are typically scheduled during the morning or early afternoon when your home has the best natural window light.
Can grandparents or extended family join?
Absolutely! Depending on the collection you've chosen and the size of your group, there may be an additional fee or I may recommend a different collection that's a better fit.
Let me know who you'd love to include, and we'll plan the best option together.
Can we bring our dog?
If you'd like them included, just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a location that's pet-friendly and plan for a few extra treats and breaks. After all... their family too.
During your session
What if my child cries?

First of all... take a deep breath.
I know how much pressure parents can feel leading up to family photos because I've been there too. I think most moms feel this way.
During one of my own family sessions, my little one cried nearly the entire time. We later realized she was simply hungry—but at the time, I was worried not one photo would have a smile.
Then I saw the gallery.
I couldn't believe how well they turned out. The photographer captured the cuddles, the smiles in between, the little moments of comfort, and all the love that was still there. Some of my favorite images are the ones that make me laugh today because they captured her personality—not perfection.
That experience completely changed how I look at family sessions.

Children don't have to be perfectly happy every second for us to create beautiful photographs. If your little one needs a cuddle, a snack, a break, or simply a moment with Mom or Dad, that's perfectly okay.
So, Moms... relax.
Trust me.
Some of the most meaningful photographs are created in the middle of real life—not perfect behavior.

What if siblings don't get along?
Believe it or not...that's completely normal.
I never expect siblings to be best friends every second of the session. We'll keep things playful, move quickly when we need to, and capture the sweet moments that naturally happen in between.
What if my kids have LOTS of energy?
Perfect!
They don't need to sit still for an hour.
We'll run.
We'll explore.
We'll play games.
We'll cuddle.
We'll chase the light together.
Children are supposed to move.
My job is simply to photograph the beautiful moments that happen along the way.
My husband hates pictures...
I honestly don't think I've met one yet who doesn't.
The good news?
My sessions aren't about asking Dad to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera.
They're about spending time with the people he loves most.
Walking.
Playing.
Snuggling.
Tickling little ones.
Talking.
Laughing.
Being together.
By the end of the session, I usually hear something like...
"That actually wasn't nearly as bad as I thought."
And every wife smiles.
Can we bring sentimental items?
Absolutely! Grandma's quilt, a favorite teddy bear, baby's first blanket, a meaningful book, or anything special to your family can make your gallery even more personal.
Will you help us pose?
Absolutely!
In fact, that's one of the biggest reasons families hire me.
You don't have to know what to do.
You don't have to worry about where to put your hands.
You don't even have to know where to look.
I'll gently guide you throughout the entire session using natural prompts that create genuine connection instead of stiff poses.
Your only job?
Love on your family.
I'll take care of the rest.
Can I order prints or albums through you?
I'm nervous about being in photos
I'm nervous about being in front of the camera...
You're not alone—almost everyone tells me this.
Before we begin, I always love asking if there's a side you naturally prefer or anything you'd like me to be mindful of during your session. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely yourself.
Most importantly, I want you to focus on loving on your family—not worrying about the camera.
I haven't lost the baby weight...
If you're waiting until everything feels perfect...
Please don't.
Your children won't remember whether your jeans fit differently or if your hair wasn't exactly how you wanted it.
They'll remember being wrapped in your arms.
I'll guide you into flattering positions, help you feel comfortable, and gently photograph you in a way that lets your connection shine.
Years from now, these photographs won't be about perfection.
They'll be about love.
Should I bring snacks or drinks?
Absolutely—and I encourage it!
A few favorite snacks, water, or a familiar comfort item can be incredibly helpful for little ones.
If possible, I recommend avoiding brightly colored drinks or snacks that can stain little faces or clothing right before photos. Neutral snacks and water are always a great choice.
Should my child nap beforehand?
Yes, absolutely if they usually take naps.
But don't stress if life happens. We'll simply meet your family where you are that day.
What if we're running late?
We've all been there. Life happens!
If you're running a few minutes behind, just send me a quick text.
I'd much rather know you're safely on your way than have you rushing to get there.
We'll make the most of our time together.
What if someone is sick?
The health of your family—and mine—is always more important than keeping a session date.
If someone is sick, please let me know as soon as possible.
We'll simply reschedule for a healthier day.
After Your session
When will we receive our gallery?
Your gallery will be carefully edited and delivered within approximately 2–3 weeks. I take my time with every image because these are memories you'll treasure for years to come.
How will I receive my images?
Your images will be delivered in a beautiful private online gallery where you can download your photographs, mark your favorites, share with loved ones, and order professional prints.
Can I print my images?
Absolutely.
Your photographs deserve to live somewhere more meaningful than your phone.
Whether they're displayed on your walls, tucked into an album, or passed down for generations, I hope these images become part of your family's story.
What if the weather is bad on the day of an outdoor shoot?
Missouri weather keeps us guessing sometimes!
If the forecast calls for unsafe weather or conditions that photographer feels wouldn't create the beautiful experience we're hoping for, we'll simply choose a new date together.
The best photographs don't come from perfect moments. They come from real ones.
